Alarm Service required 05 Volvo V50 V50

Hello, this weekend an alarm service light showed up, and also found my battery dead in the morning. I have changed the siren on other Volvos in the past. My question is, is there a work around to bypass the alarm system? Or do I need to replace the siren.
Thank You

Back in the good old days, you just pulled the fuse. But all of the systems are so integrated that I think you should just replace the dumb battery and hope that the circuit board isn't compromised. It's under the front right fender and the fender liner needs to be pulled away for access.
