so finally got new tensioner/idler/serpentine belt installed....while doing, noticed two things....upper engine mount, nearest brake reservoir, the rubber bushing is cracked and degrading....looking at schematic a TascaParts, not sure what part to order...is bushing available separately, or do I need to purchase bushing already pressed in to bracket...I'm thinking bracket from firewall to bracked on engine... second query...some measure of wobble in PS pump pulley...pump functions normally and does not leak....is pulley available separately...?? have friend with special tool to remove/replace pulleys...

The 1998 still has the separate bushing for the upper mount. Replacing it is a pain but doable with over sized washers to press it into place. A lot of us went with the IPD poly bushing that is in 2 parts and lasts forever. The poly bushing does transfer more vibrations into the cabin that some sensitive people can feel, I never had that problem.

The PS pulley is replaceable, a special tool is required to hold it in place when removing/installing the center bolt.

thanks for the info Klaus...no problem for me with increased vibration, so I'll go the IPD route...but the pulley on PS pump...doesn't look like it's bolted on, but rather pressed on....am I missing something? is the pulley dealer only...???

My bad, it is a press fit. Getting it off requires a 3 prong puller. Putting it back on is a bit harder.

Are you sure that the pulley is loose or the shaft is loose and you would need a new pump.

more questions S70 1998

nope....no leaks, power steering pump functions normally, car steers just fine...but pulley has decided wobble....has for some time, tho' I don't know why, as I never did any work on it/near it....worried about excess wear on belt...have tool available for removal/replacement, just don't know where to get replacement pulley...not on Tascas list of parts...dealer only? or will used be okay? just don't to wind up with one equally as wobbly...

thanks again so much Klaus! should we ever be in the same state, my offer stands...pizza and beer!

Tasca wants $110 plus shipping
FCP wants $133, probably free shipping

Look for part #1397645

1998 is the last year for this particular pulley. Volvo went plastic...

Your PS pump and pulley is the same as the 850s.
