Radiator Cooling Fan S70 2000

vehicle is 2000 S70. Not always, but some times, the cooling fan will continue to run after the ignition is turned off. I think it times out after about 10 minutes. No other unusual things are going on. Temp gauge is normal, idle rpms are were they should be. Any suggestions where to begin looking? Maybe an air temp sensor and if so, where is it located?

All suggestions appreciated. Jim

That is normal. The ECT sensor lets the engine computer know that the coolant is still a bit hot, so the fan is turned on to help cool things off. Remember, normal operating temp is above boiling and the coolant in the block is still absorbing heat from the cylinders.
