Looking for what file format my 2004 V70 (stock CD player and all) accepts.

Won't play .mp3s (I guessed that but tried anyway), tried windows .cda and .wav neither works. Comes up as CD error.

It plays commercial CDs just fine.

    I don't believe it is the individual songs format as much as it is the CD header format. I recall the Alpine CD players in the early 850/70 cars not liking the self-burned CDs, so much so that the players would not even eject them.

        All of the 'modern' players are MP3, not CDs. There are ways to add an MP3 player, think IPOD, on Youtube. CDs are now like tapes, obsolete.

          I have a bucket of mp3's on DVDs but the Volvo CD player only reads (so far) commercial CDs. I was backwards converting my mp3s to CD so I could play them in the cars (both 2004 V70).

          I'll look into the IPOD type.
