Exahuat smells like gun powder 850 1994

My car will still only run until warm then dies. I have just replaced vacuum lines and sealed all loose lines. I had gas in one line and replaced the fuel pump reg. I just cleaned out EGR valve and throttle body. I know my PCV system is bad but would that make it die and not start back up? I have done pretty much everything else to this car. I did just adjust the throttle so it idols at 1000 RPM's because it seemed loose. Now it smells like fireworks, dies and wont restart until cold. What do I do next?

When the exhaust smells like that, you are running rich. Is this a turbo? What did you do to adjust the idle, specifics? The reason the engine dies is because the plugs get fouled with too much fuel.

Finding gas in the vacuum line attached to the fuel pressure regulator means that the regulator died and needed to be replaced. That alone would cause a rich mixture and also make for hard starts.

Is the ECT sensor original? A cold reading there would also cause longer injection times.

What kind of spark plugs do you have and are they gapped correctly?

Repairing the PCV will make for better vacuum, which the engine will enjoy. How does the vacuum line elbow look, the one that is under #1 cylinder and goes to the flame trap (N/A) engine. The turbos have a PTC nipple on the air intak just before the turbo that needs cleaning.
