Oh no!!! I messed up doing the wastegate adjustment! 850 1995 T-5R

Hi,

I just finished doing that wastegate adjustment we were all talking about but I kind of messed up a bit. When I was strugging to get that rod end free from the nut right behind it, I spun it too much and lost track of its original position. I turned it enough so that the end of the rod was pretty much flush with the end of the pin that it has to go over (which means that I had to use long nose pliers to pull the rod to get the hole aligned with the pin). Does anyone know how many turns I approx. turned it?

Also, everyone keeps saying to drive it and then adjust some more. How do I know when to stop adjust it? How do I know when it's optimal? Sorry to nag all you guys. Thanks

Alex

This is a difficult one. here's my experience - after i adjusted 1 1/2 turns to tighten the actuator rod, i found the rod was just 1mm away from the pin which slots into the end-hole on the rod. it could still slot in but was a tight fit.

much later, i did a further 1 1/2 turn tightening, this time i discovered the pin would NOT slot in easily, it was then i found out the other end of the rod was spring loaded, so by pulling it i could still slot the pin in. on that basis, if you loosen the rod till it would just slot in flush, that shd mean you're back to stock setting or are about 1 turn different, max.

    hope that makes sense.
