I hit a pot hole today, flattened my tire, had AAA change it, however when I got home I notice something hanging down from underneath the battery in front of the tire, looks to be a round cylinder, does anyone know what that could be. from what I felt, it was as round and sort of tall. From what I can tell from the haynes manual could it be the evap charcoal canister. I am taking my car to get my tire fixed tomorrow and will probably have to get that fixed as well, but want to know what it is first, so I don't get ripped off.

any help would be appreciated.

    It is the evap canister. I did the same thing with a pothole, it is held onto a bracket with big zip ties. Easy to get at from underneath.

    Yes, I think your are correct. Make sure the canister is secure. The evap purge valve should connect to it.

    There's some pothole around here (Boston) that might rip off your front wheel!
    Get a coathanger or wire and tie that thing up so it doesn't get lost before
    you drive anywhere. Maybe it's just hang it up again?

    If you can't avoid potholes, maybe it's time to resettle in Oahu?

      it was dark and snowing this morning so i didn't see the pothole. I don't know how to get under there with coat hanger or wire to tie it up...is it the evap canister?
