I have just bought an S70 and it has a terribly loud thumping in the front of the car. The sound increases with the speed of the car, and not the speed of the motor. When travelling if put into N and rev the motor the sound does not get faster. Only with the speed of the car. Any suggestions? Grateful if you have.

Is it coming from engine or wheels? Where do you reckon it's coming from?

Check the tires first. You could have a broken bead or tread separation, both of which could mean a sudden blow out.

Then check the axles, make sure the boots are not torn and the cv joints are not frozen.

You can check for a broken or shifted tire belt by running your hands over the tread surface of the tire. You will feel a wavy area. Wear gloves because the broken wires in the steel belts like to poke out of the tread. The sidewall may have a ripple also.
