I haven't tried it on the car yet but from what I understand from a friend it can be done. I've had a tech at a Volvo dealer confirm that it can be done by:
APPARENTLY you put the fly wire into the A7 port of the OBD1. Press and release the button 5 times. The red light should come on. While the light is on, press an release the button 1 time. The light will go off and come back on. Press the button a second time. Again the light will go off and come back on. Press a third time then wait for a series of three flashes. Count the flashes. That will be the last 3 digits of the km. Example: 1 flash, pause, 3 flashes, pause, 2 flashes then the last three digits are 132
Leave the wire in the A7 port and repeat the above steps to get the first three digits, only the third time you press the button, press it twice, then wait for the series of flashes which will indicate the first three digits on the kms. If the car has under 100,000 km, the light will flash 10 times which represents a 0. You will get ten flashes for any other digit that is a 0 as well.
I say APPARENTLY because I tried this process on a 95 850 that I already own and I didn't get any flashes that are supposed to represent the km digits. The wire on my OBD1 isn't in the greatest shape though and the tech said that is most likely why I wouldn't get any flashes. On the other hand, it flashes to give fault codes so I don't know if in fact it works or not because I have not seen it done pesonally. I hope I have not been wasting my time in the freezing cold trying to test the process for nothing.
If anyone else has any input, I'd be glad to hear it for my out curiosity.
