1998 C70 Coupe Transmission Fluid Change C70 1998

Last week I drained the transmission fluid and put in more. When I took out the transmission drain plug, there was no crush washer. Is this normal? I was expecting to see a washer.
Does anyone know if the oil drain plug washer is the same size/part?
I'm going to drain the transmission fluid again and re-fill in a week or so.
Thanks,
13

There is supposed to be an aluminum crush washer, same size as the oil drain plug. Make sure the old washer isn't stuck to the sump - that happens.

Thanks guys. I just ordered some crush washers for the C70 oil plug, so I'll be sure to put one on when I drain the transmission fluid next weekend.

I checked around the transmission plug hole and no crush washer was to be found when I did the initial drain.

The fluid was more dirty than I like, so that's why I'm going to drain the 3.5 quarts or so again.

I drained the transmission pan last weekend again and added another 3.5 quarts.
The funny thing is that when I removed the transmission drain plug, there was a crush washer on it.
Haha. I'm only 46 and didn't think my eye sight or memory were that bad yet.

Anyway, while draining the fluid I searched for the source of the transmission fluid leak or power steering leak on the C70. I couldn't tell where it was coming from. The steering rack seemed fine, the steering hoses looked ok. The transmission hoses looked ok. There was fluid all along that seam on the transmission case that has gasket sealer. Axles weren't leaking from what I could tell. So I'm not sure what's going on with it.

I did see a small oil leak at the turbo, but the hard lines on the bottom of it were dry.

I'll have to take some photos and post them in another thread.

I found out that these cars really like the Valvoline high mileage trans oil, the one in the red bottle.

On my 2008 there was one and it was the same as the oil.
