Shocks and Strut Replacement V70-XC70 1998

I have around 51,000 miles on my car. The suspension is a bit mushy. Has anyone any experience with upgrading/replacing their front struts and or rear shocks. Unfortunately I have the Nivomat rear self-leveling shocks which retail at my local dealer for $416.00 each!!!

I'd like a firm ride, near stock or slightly stiffer, but not racetrack stiff.

I'm also considering upgraded sway bars from IPD too.

Look forward to hearing comments.

regards,

dcg.

    IPD Sway Bar V70-XC70 1998

    Hi Dave G.

I install IPD sway bars on my 1999 V70 XC last summer and what an improvement! The body lean is gone. The car sticks to the road much better. I highly recommend the upgrade! It is well worth the money and time.

The only issue I had was that the front sway bar was a real pain to install and will require a front-end alignment. It took me 3 hours to get the factory bar out! The problem was the rubber mounts were permanently attached to the sway bar and I had to cut the brackets off the old sway bar. With little to no room this was where I got bogged down.

Out of curiosity I asked my dealer if they install the IPD sway bars. They said yes and that they do it all the time. So if you are a good do it yourselfer then I would recommend you do it and save the money. If not then get someone else to do the installation. It will save you from a possible nightmare.

    Good luck,

    Steven---

Re: IPD Sway Bar V70-XC70 1998

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably do the sway bar with some Pirrelli P6000 205/65 15's to replace the stock continentials, but I need to figure out the shock strut thing too. The rears being the real issue.

Thanks for your post. Glad to hear the good news. When I put a Packasport box and or my mt bikes, I won't get the lean with a new sway bar, no doubt.

        Dave,

I think I saw IPD had the Ninovats for the XC about half the price of OEM and with a lifetime Warranty.
