Horn Relocation 850

Just did it today. Went pretty smooth except for the fact that someone wrapped electrical tape around all the wires at the front of the car.

If you go to volvospeed.com, you will see the two horn wires making a Y shape.

My wires were all electrical taped to all these other wires up front.

Besides that, everything went smooth. I did however not mount the horns in exactly the same place as was shown on volvospeed.com, but very very similar. Funny thing is, my horns work better now. Go figure. Before, now and then, when I would push the horn, nothing would happen. So far, every time I've done it, it's worked.

Just a quick question to those that have tried this before. How far away do the wires have to be away from the intercooler? I'm just a little worried because the wires are pretty close to the intercooler.

Re: Horn Relocation 850

I cant think of any problems you could have with the wires being close to the IC. I need to add this to the site, however. If you mount the horns low you may want to put screen over them to keep from filling them with water. Have had my horns moved for over a year now in Florida with no problems but some people must not mount them right and have them fill with water. Just a though.

Re: Horn Relocation S70 1998

I did the relocation and mounted on the same spot as shown on volvospeed and guess what? The horns were flooded after one downpour! The horns squeaked instead after that and I had to throw them out as the water just wouldn't drain completely.

I have now mounted two new Fiamm horns back on the stock locations. Just my experience.

This may be too late but IPA will dry out the horns. You have to take them out and spiral twist a paper towel inside them first though. Friends Jetta had that problem with the same Hella horns.

Re: Horn Relocation 850

If you look at the pic in your instructions (fourth pic form the top) the horn in the back ground, you have mounted to that little piece of metal with two holes in it.

The hole further back is the perfect size to mount one horn. The second hole is not. So instead of looking for somewhere else to mount it, I used a smaller bolt to mount to the smaller hole.

Both face downwards, so I hope they'll drain. But honestly, I'm not all that worried. And to be totally honest, I almost never use my horn. And every now and then, it didn't go off anyways.

But things are good.

BTW, I got my OMP STB today while I was doing the horns and an oil change.

I'll be sure to check out your site one more time before I try installing it.
