Ball joint on lower control arm rubber gone S60

Ball joint on lower control arm rubber gone
Yesterday I was replacing the sway bar bushings. I bought MOOG I like that they have zerk fittings so they can be greased.

So while I was there I noticed that the rubber was missing on the one side of the ball on the LCA bushing joint. I am betting that that the ball has small stones in it and has been acting like a stone crusher also making the noise on the right side.

I've never been a big fan of suspension work. Upper and lower ball joints, sway bar stuff, shocks, etc. but the LCA stuff I've stayed away from because it usually entails pressing in parts, the frozen bolts/nuts, etc.

How difficult is replacing the lower control arm? Replace just the bushing or the entire arm?

I just replaced the ball joint on my 2007 xc70 (the rubber cartilage inside the ball joint had turned to mush) and I have one tip for you. If the S60 half axle is like the xc70, you need to be careful about the two parts of the axle sliding away from each other when you pull out the ball joint. I had twice the job getting the axle back together.
