Faint gasoline odor, and may be burning oil XC90

I have noticed a faint odor of gasoline when the car is warmed up and idling (at a stop light, for example). My wife does not smell it. I could be losing my mind, but I am pretty sure I smell something. On another note, I check the oil pretty regularly, and the car was almost a quart low since I checked last (about 3 weeks ago). I sometimes have to top it up, but not that much. The car seems to be running fine, no power loss, etc. Any thoughts?

Did you ever have the recalled fuel pump replaced? And the fuel lines inspected?

You are probably at around 140K, so it is time to think about the PCV system and the PTC valve at the turbo intake. Both require some maintenance and cleaning at this age.

Check the bottom of the engine bay for oil leaks. That's a lot of oil to comsume in a short time. Some of the oil may be coming out of the cam seals on either end of the engine if the crankcase pressure is too high.

It could be time to service the PCV system particularly if you do a lot of short haul driving, don't use synthetic oil, and/or have over 100,000-ish miles. If you have the 5 cylinder turbo, follow the hose that comes off the top of the engine and runs down between the intake manifold runners to the breather box. Likely that hose is torn just above the box.
