Is the 2011 C30 a good purchase? C30 2011

I am looking at a 2011 C30 with the geartronic automatic transmission and 75K miles for $13,900. What are your opinions on this car? What are the problem areas? Consumer Reports is rather harsh on this vehicle for some reason. Any thoughts are highly appreciated!

    Is the 2011 C30 a good purchase? C30 2011

    Happy New Year to all.

I'd like to repurpose this question to my own ends, and apologies if I step on your toes:

After 2 years with no Volvo I considering a C30. (The board's good wishes received gratefully.)

What maintenance / repair differences have C30 owners found over the model years and trim lines? My natural bent is for the base model and an automatic, the best gas mileage available and normallest (non-high-performance, most comfy riding) tires.

Bonus: My current ride is so old that a 2009 car would still be so "new" to me I would not feel like I'm depriving myself of anything.

But if there are teething problems or design changes that affect an '08 or '09 v. a '12 or 13...

I have a 2009 and had to change the front wheel bearings last spring. Far too early for the age of the car. When researching the issue, volvo has updated the components and recommends a bracket to keep the bearing from "drifting". I changed the bearings myself, but I had a shop press, which really helped.
Fun to drive. Lots of room in the back with the rear seats down. Avg fuel consumption is not that great @ 8.2L/100km (depends on how you drive).

    Is the 2011 C30 a good purchase? and oil leak... C30 2011

Thanks for the comments. We purchased the car and are really enjoying it! I have noticed that there does appear to be a possible oil leak coming from the PCV/oil trap/filter housing. The housing was replaced on our s40 under an extended warranty. The dealer tells me this car is not covered as the problem was corrected in later model years. Is this likely to be the same problem or just a messy oil change or filter housing not tightened adequately? Is this a watch item or a take care of it item??

And, we sold our V70 after buying it new and driving it for 176K miles. The new owner totaled it after driving only 400 miles. Seriously??

The dealer didn't tell you exactly where the leak is coming from? Or clean the oil from the area?

I guess it is up to you to clean things up and find out where it is leaking, if it wasn't just a spill from changing the filter.

A shame about your old car, did the new owner survive to tell you?

        Is the 2011 C30 oil leak... C30 2011

I am not certain what actually happened to my V70. While searching for a C30 I decided to run my old VIN just to see if the title had been properly transferred. Much to my surprise it had been transferred immediately after the sale and then in only a few hundred miles later the CarFax entry listed as having been in an accident and now listed with a "salvage title." I have resisted calling the new owner because anything could have happened. The car was a tank and I am hopeful everyone survived. At least she had 176K happy miles in one home!

As long as the C30 has been on the road, when I see them I just smile. The rear taillights evoke one. Very R.Crumb taillights. that is all.

I like the C30 and I'm very happy with the T5 in my C70 Coupe.
Just make sure you like the size of the vehicle.
They look like a blast to drive and the styling is very nice.
Price wise, I've noticed that C30's seem to hold their value pretty well.

If it is the black T5, sounds good to go. I don't subscribe to Consumer Reports because they are not car guys.

The T5 is not a sedan, it is built for 2 people and minimal luggage. Because it is short, it will be a little rough on the highway expansion strips, but it is fun to drive. The 5 cyl engine has been proven to be tough. The tranny for 2011 has the bugs worked out of it, as well as most of the electronics. Just make sure you only use pure synthetic engine oil, that will keep the PCV system reasonably clean. If you like to get up to 5K+ rpms and full boost, you will need premium gasoline, otherwise, I suggest using the midgrade octane stuff.
