2007 S60 Turbo

Hola,

I am looking for the correct procedure to follow when replacing the battery.
I found some post were some DYI's had some modules problems after they replace the battery. In some cases, the check engine light come on, the fan did not work, the windows did not work, or the sunroof did not close properly.

This makes me think that there is a new procedure that needs to be follow for this new cars.

Speedy

Wow! Klaus really reads this board!

    (so do I)

The next time you post, put as much info into the title as you can - that way you can catch more fish.

The more info we have, the better.

Plugging in 'model' and 'year' also helps. Don't forget the label which is then used by the search engine.

If you want to be 'safe', use a small 9V battery (new) and attach wires to the + and - fittings. After raising the hood and making sure all of the lights are off (door closed), clip the battery wires to the car battery cables, remove the old battery, put in the new one, tighten down the battery cables, and pull off the 9V battery wires.

If the 9V battery wires come loose with the car battery not in place, wait 20 minutes to let all of the systems in the car shut down, then connect the new car battery.

      Thanks Klaus,

I remember an adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter with a 9V battery.

Will this work also since it will be a lot closer to the computers by the dash board.

ONLY if the plug is live with the car turned off and the key out. Check that first. Some cars, my MB, only leaves the center console plug live for 15 minutes or so. Don't want to have some kid's game running down the battery because he forgot to unplug it.
