It's the wagon version of an S40. I kind of like the look. My daughter has an '01 S40 w/ 183,000 miles on it. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it has grown on me over the years. It's been dependable though CELs crop up at times and can be somewhat difficult to finally trace down.
Like any European car, parts are getting expensive and at 11 years old, things are going to need replacement. You are also looking at a timing belt service at that mileage. Try to get a maintenance history for the car. Be wary of PCV issues (clogged) and some have had VVT (Variable Valve Timing) sprocket issues. Those are fresh in my mind because I just had to service both.
If you have to pay someone to work on it, get your wallet out. They take a lot of patience to work on as things are packed in there and there's not a lot of room to work. I would not pay more than $3000 - $4000 tops. These cars are not popular and thus you can usually pick them up pretty cheap. As long as you're patient and don't mind wrenching on them yourself, they can be well-bought.
Me? I'd put the money into the Bertone instead if it is in otherwise good condition. 7 grand would go a long way to repair a transmission and bushings.
