2006 XC70 Navigation Unit Questions V70-XC70 2006

I recent bought a nice 2006 XC70. The car is in excellent shape and nicely optioned including the factory navigation system. The one odd thing is that the NAV DVD unit that mounts in the left rear compartment is missing. I have no idea why it's gone. All the cables and connectors seem to be there, but the unit is not. Maybe the former owner had an issue with it or maybe it was stolen. Who knows?

I'd like to purchase a used NAV DVD unit and install it to see if I can get the nav system working again.

I'm having trouble finding one for sale at a reasonable price. There are plenty of units for the 2007 and newer cars available in the $200 range, but I can't seem to find one for the 2006 under $400.

Does anyone know why this would be? Or do you know of a good source? I tried Erie Vo-vo but they don't have any.

Does any one know how to find which units would be compatible in terms of years, models, part numbers, etc.?

Finally, is there any reason I should not be trying this?

Thanks,

Nope! Your C70 obviously doesn't have nav, or you would have tried a swap by now. Remember, not only do you need the unit, but the expensive DVD that has all of the programming and maps on it.

I understand. I also do not like to see nonfunctioning things, it drives me nuts! It might be cheaper to replace the entire unit with a more up to date version that will fit in the dash. Or wait for a local wrecking yard to get a 2006 that has been totaled. Make sure it comes with a DVD.

A Garmin is only $150 and free annual updates????
