Cabin Filter S40-V40 2000

Can anyone recommend a web site to purchase the cabin air filter. I've had my S40 for over a year, have over 12,000 miles and have not changed it yet. I know it is probably a mess, especially condsidering I live in Washington DC.

Thanks!

Re: Cabin Filter S40-V40 2000

VolvoParts.com has very good prices and they're helpful. Send them an email to get a quote on something like that. I think it's parts@volvoparts.com... or go to their website.

I recently bought 2 of the upgraded carbon filters instead of the standard cabin filters. If I recall they were about $21-22. The standard cabin filter costs less.

Re: Cabin Filter S40-V40 2000

The Carbon Filter has two advantages:

1. It uses activated charcoal to reduce odors (especially from emissions and other foul smells from outside) although it doesn't completely eliminate all of them. Like if you get caught behind a yellow school bus, it does a great job at keeping you from choking on it's diesel exhaust fumes, you get a faint smell. Nice thing is that on the S/V40 the filters (which ever you use) also filter the air if you turn on the recirc so you could get the odors out more quickly.

2. It filters out finer particles that wouldn't be caught by the standard filter. Standard filter catches pollen; the carbon (aka particulate air filter) catches much smaller pollutants.

Generally, it keeps the air fresher in the car.

Hope that helps.

Re: Cabin Filter S40-V40 2000

I ordered 2 from www.volvoparts.com. They're still working on adding more parts to their online catalog so the carbon filter isn't up. You can email parts@volvoparts.com and either Don or Dan will respond. The part number is 30883952 .

With shipping (UPS ground $5.95) it cost me $48.07 for two. I think it was under $22 each.

I've had really good service from Don.

Hope that helps.

Re: Cabin Filter S60 2001

I find that Nils Sefeldt Volvo in Texas has very good prices on genuine Volvo parts. Beats the local dealer by a lot. Phone # 1-800-468-0041
