Gremlins in the glovebox S70 1998

Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death but I just cannot find it in the archives.

I have a squeaking sound from the glovebox lock hinge whenever I hit bumps, I tried and confirmed that it's the lock. When the box is opened, there is not squeak but once it's close and I start shaking it, the squeaks came back. Any permanent remedy?

TIA!

It wrapped a small piece of sticky foam around the latch bar. Bought a whole sheet of it from WalMart for $.99 in the crafts dept. A .5cm square wrapped around it has lasted 6 months and is still going.

    Gavin,

That's a tough one. The strike bar is non-adjustable.

    I've tried the following:

    1. white lithium grease on the strike parts-not much better

    2. clear soft-plastic bumpers (like you put on the bottom of objets to protect the furniture) at the BOTTOM of the door on either side of the hinges. This pushes the door bottom out and makes it fit tighter. It seems to work.

This week at least. Anyway, let me know what works for you.

    Enjoy!

    Bryan
