850GLT radiator leak 850

I have an 97 850 GLT And have had it for just over two years, when I got it , it needed a radiator so I replaced it. Yesterday the side tank split on this one, I just replaced the coolant recovery bottle with a new one about two weeks ago.I have read somewhere that the cap denoted the pressure of the cooling system ?? the old cap was green and the new one is black, does that make any difference?? Is there another reason this car might be blowing radiators ??

I don't know what the max pressure is on a black cap.

Not all radiators are created equal.

If you suspect severe pressure, the top radiator hose should feel hard as a rock. You should always be able to squeeze it.

You should also check the compression as a head gasket failure will contribute to overpressurization.

The rads on my FWD/AWD seem to last 2-3 yrs before the plastic-to-metal crimp seals fail on the sides of the radiators. The rads are made by Nissen. What I do is buy from fcp and pay the small vig for the true lifetime non-pro rata warranty. I dont know whether the Volvo OEM rads are any better but since they are also half plastic, I doubt it.
