I'm doing my wife's 855T this weekend. I bought the largest size, came with two cans of adhesive. I'll also be repairing or replacing the moonroof as it no longer retracts.

Good luck, I've been avoiding this job for a long time. ;^)

I did my 850 sedan a few years ago, and bought all the materials and adhesive from WLS Headliners (wlsheadliners.com). I was very happy with what they provided. You might be able to find the adhesive elsewhere for less money, but I was happy buying from them to make sure I got the right stuff for minimal hassle.

One very important note: The reason the old headliner falls down is that the foam backing disintegrates with age. I found out the hard way that if you just spray on the glue and don't clean off all the old foam, the new headliner adheres to the old foam, and the old foam just disintegrates further and the new one falls down too. You can clean the old foam off the backing board pretty easily with just rubbing, so it's not hard, just very important to do!

I did this on my sedan, be careful with the liner. I was able to stiffen it where needed with pieceds of cardboard. Volvospeed has this documented also. JoAnn competitor has a much better selection of headliner fabrics. Hancock fabrics, I got 2 or 3 yard (wifey understand this stuff) and got the glue at Auto zone. The glue cost more than than the fabric. Wagon should be easier than sedan.

There is an excellent write up at matthewsvolvosite.com. Just google Volvo 850 headliner and it will come up.

Before you run off to Joann, remember that your headliner has a thin piece of foam backing. The 'green' glue applied at the factory is still stuck to the headliner, but the 'green' foam dried up and is crumbling.

There are expensive 'OE' liners, but a bit pricey. Google search it.

And use really good 3M spray glue.

Suede H/L Y/SF-89163 BEIGE was a great match (try a sample swatch first)

Buy the 3M spray that says "for headliners" from Home Depot (not the one the fabric place sells)
Fold the front at the windshield over if the original was folded

I just did my headliner this weekend. Here is a good video on youtube that explains most of it.

I purchased material from Hancock Fabrics. They sell headliner material with the foam attached ($40). They also sell an industrial headliner adhesive ($20). If you have a sedan you will need to take one of your seats out to maneuver the headliner out the passenger door. Good Luck.
