I recently purchased a ELM327 wireless OBDII auto scanner with the upgraded ELM software. The resulting info is limited and it seems Volvo S70s are not included in their covered analysis. Has anybody tried this before and was a way to get more info discovered?

Thr protocol is the same for all 1998 S/V/C 70 models. You might want to check other free software tools.

I am using a "dongle" with the torque app (the 5 buck version) on my daughters Android phone. It reads codes that my code reader will not, this is all that most will need, very cool. Don't know if the dongle is an ELM 327, simple searching should figure that out. Seriously, this thing is great, keep the dongle in your glove box. Of course it will not read manufacturer specific codes, but gets all the generic ones.
