Main window switch not working V70-XC70 1998

Just today, my main window switch stopped working right: I can roll down all the windows, but the main switch will not roll up the driver's side rear window, which has to be rolled up from the back switch. I took out the main switch console and took it apart, tried to clean the contacts as well as I was able, put on some electrical grease, and put it back together, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks

Replace that switch with a mail order one V70-XC70 1998

Replace that switch. I went to the dealership to do that and I twice acquired defective switches and it was tough to get refunds on them. Those switches have failed a total of four times between the two V-70's I have owned. If you have a multi-meter or volt meter, there is a way to test the switch and verify that it is the master switch and not the individual switches causing the problem. Flip the switch upside down and with the meter set to "continuity" put the test leads at different points and toggle away. fcpgroton.com sold me a master switch that was made by another company ( not Volvo but made in the UK ) and it has held up fine for the last two years and looks identical to the old one.

Main window switch not working V70-XC70 1998

So half of the switch works, down is OK, and up is NOOP. Because the left rear window is seldom used, I would suspect it has a little corrosion buildup. You could try lifting up on the switch repeatedly to clean it off a bit, or, like in my sister in law's car, never use that window!
