sunroof question 850

Hi All:

Happy to report I have about 2,000 miles on the transmission that was repalaced a while back. Always scary spending more money on a repair than the car is worth, but in a few more months it all makes sense from a cost standpoint.

Anyway, I usually keep the sunroof in the tilted up position in the summer to vent the heat from the car while sitting, and lately the sunroof only makes a clicking noise when I try to close it. About every 5th time I hit the button it will close. Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone used the manual crank to close it? Do the hinge points require grease of some sort?

Thx.

Sounds more like a switch problem. The bottom of the sun roof parts are plastic and lithium grease should be used to keep the runners moving easily. Make sure there are no twigs, sand, etc.

Thx Klaus:

It was raining really hard today in Michigan so I finally popped the dome light cover off where the manual crank is supposed to be....It's really screwdriver slot in the motor winding mechanism....turns out the plug going to a black box before the motor was loose. I did put white lithium on the glides and hinge point . Works well now.
