S40 Rear Suspension problems- vibration S40-V40 2006

Daughter has a 2006 S40 that has a vibration in the rear suspension. Get up to 65+ and the car shakes. Also noticed the rear tires appear to look splayed out, or negative camber (bottom of the rear tires are outside the top). The inside of the tires are wearing faster than the outside.

Anyone have experience with this condition? Is it the bushings on the rear suspension?

If you redid the rear suspension bushings on an S40 what lead you to do that?

Thanks Tim

Happened to me and it was a bent wheel S40-V40 2006

I had this problem and could not get it to go away with balanced wheels. A tire shop at another place informed me that my rear rim (made of aluminum ) was slightly bent and was the likely cause of the vibration. My wife must have hopped a curb

    S40 Rear Suspension problems- vibration S40-V40 2006

    Something like this? http://www.vivaperformance.com/camber-adjustable-rear-control-arms-s40-v50-c30-c70/

The camber setting does not effect wheel vibration. I would first rotate the wheels, front to rear, to rule out an unbalanced wheel.

    S40 Rear Suspension problems- vibration S40-V40 2006

Dug up info on the rear suspension and it appears the S40s came with negative rear camber for improved handling. Customers complained about poor tire wear so Volvo came out with a new control arm to reduce the negative rear camber. Will have to give them a try.
