TPMS and DSTC S60 2007

Hi folks, been a while!

I've been having an intermittent issue with my TPMS system, it will randomly display TPMS system service required, often then disappearing, random fits saying low tire pressure, very low tire pressure - then disappears. I assume I have a sensor playing up, recently had one replaced and suppose it is bad or another one is on the way out.

Driving home today, stopped got gas then started back up and the DIM displayed Anti Skid service required followed by Traction control reduced. My car is an 07 so it incorporates STC alongside Tracs all under the guise of DSTC. The anti spin (good for winter) can only be defeated through disabling within the DIM and I don't have the STC or DSTC reduction option as is customary with the R models.

Started the car back up and no "messages" appearing in the DIM.

Any likely culprits, TPMS, ABS module?

Thanks,
Steve

    TPMS and DSTC S60 2007

    Thanks Klaus,

Will likely revisit the dealer to get this sorted. DSTC issue has not happened but TPMS service has its fits on and off while driving. I had one of the TPMS sensors replaced earlier this year as I supposedly had a bad one leaking air. Massachusetts roads are not kind either and the myriad of Grand Canyons, i mean roads that we have are taking a toll on my 07. Will have some suspension issues to tend to, although most are to be expected at 125k.

I have a serious disagreement with the DOT mandate and implementation of the TPMS systems as used in the USA. Note that the Canadian system requires that the offending wheel be displayed, while in the USA it it is up to the owner to determine which wheel is a problem. It could even be the spare tire, who knows? The dealers won that one, as they can tell which wheel sensor is the problem, but not the owner!!

My 2008's have the same frustration. And if you park in the shade, on one side of the car in the winter, well, heaven forbid!

Enough of the rant! There is little we can do with a dumb system, except fight tooth and nail to not get 'run flat' tires, another unneeded expense.

As to the DSTC, only a dealer can get the proper codes with a VOL/FCR scanner. There are some problems with the earlier versions of the CEM that cause all sorts of strange problems. Most of the early days of ABS failures have been corrected, but the system is still able to be compromised by a faulty sensor.
