AWD traction wet weather light flashing? V70-XC70

Hi, That larger arrow light on the dash along with the check engine light came on and was flashing. What does that mean?
The check engine light comes on sometimes but usually goes off when I re start the car, code is telling me the cat is 'eh.
At times the arrow light comes on but after I stop and hit the button it will always go out. This time however it flashed and would not go out all day, (many different stops and starts), then on the way home from work after a stop to get a cup of coffee it went out.
...and yes it is not just the light my take off was slower as when I hit the "W" button and purposely want the extra traction in the winter.

Issue? Electrical gremlin? imminent AWD issue?

The automatic tranny will cause the flashing arrow if there is a severe error in the tranny computer. It will also set a code in the engine tranny and put you in limp home mode (3rd gear).

You forgot to tell us the year and if 4 or 5 speed. Sometimes, just rowing the shifter will correct the problem - if it is the PNP switch acting up.

The next time it happens stop at an autoparts store and get the codes read. Sounds like you need some other work also.
