Little squeaks V70-XC70 2001

Over the last few days I have heard little interior squeaks when driving over rough surfaces. They are very little chirpping sounds but not the one that was associated with the common glovebox cricket problem that I have resolved months ago. These seem to come from the back seat, or luggage area. Does anyone have any tricks on locating these annoying sounds and eliminating them? How about a shotgun type approach and lubricating all hinges, latches etc. ? Thanks for any and all suggestions. Tom.

ALOT OF THE SQUEEKS COMMING FROM THE REAR WHEN GOING OVER ROUGH ROADS COULD POSSIBLY BE THE REAR SEATSD SQUEEKING ON THE CATCHES.THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH ALL FO THE WAGONS. KEEP IN MIND WHEN GOING OVER ROUGH ANYTHING YOUR CAR IS GOING TO MAKE NOISE.VOLVOS ARE NOT QUIET CARS.

Re: Little squeaks V70-XC70 2001

Tom,

The V70s and 850 wagons tend to develop a squeak at the latch that holds the rear seat upright (usually the pasenger side for some reason). I've found the lubricant that the dealer uses on door hinges and locks works best and lasts longest, although some report success with various other lubes. You don't need to use a lot, just spray some on a rag and wipe the metal loop that the latch hooks on to. Good luck, and happy hunting if this isn't the source of your squeak.

Koz.
