Brake bleed questions V70-XC70

I want to do a full bleed on my 06-XC70, 01-S40 and 95- 850. You guys (gals) prefer any particular brake fluid? AND...since I haven't been under the XC70 as yet...can I do a bleed without taking the wheels off? On some models the bleed screw is nicely assessable from the inside without wheel removal. Is there any 'fancy' procedures: Which wheel first, ABS...etc. ?

Brand matters not. Use DOT4+ or higher IF the cap says higher. Just not sure about the 06. Don't use DOT 3.


I like to do the rear brakes first, then the front. Ignore the ABS pump as the fluid will naturally drain through it.

Depends on the wheel design and if you can reach through the wheel to get to the bleed screw.

Older Volvo's require DOT #4 brake fluid. My guess is that all your cars require it too or perhaps DOT #5, but read your owner's manuals first. I don't think brand matters that much, but again you might want to read up on it before buying.
