PTC valve to air hose question about that silicon film stuff V70-XC70

Hi there,
I was wondering when you take out the air hose, do you leave that film stuff right where it is or do you peel it off and clean it?
That's the film stuff that is under the two vacuum hoses and the ptc nipple; looks like the furry oil patch in the middle of JBlackburn's photo.

Also, is there meant to be an electrical connector at the end of the hose at the turbo? All I can feel is a hose clamp. When people write to take off the three hoses and an electrical connector are they referring to the elec. connector at the air mass mater?
Thanks

I don't know about the 'fuzzy' stuff.

When people mention the 3 vacuum hoses, they are refering to the boost control solenoid which also has an electrical connection.
There is an electrical connector at the PTC, the only one on the intake hose that I remember. The MAF is forward of the intake hose and behind the air filter.

The PTC does not need to be removed from the hose for cleaning, it just makes it easier to clean the back side. You will need something like carb cleaner and a small screwdriver as a scraping tool.

Thanks I am definitely going to remove this today. I just couldn't feel an electrical connector when I put my hand down the intake and fingers feeling around the hose clamp. I guess once I start using my tools I might find the solenoid connector.
Update: Finding it impossible to get the pipe off the air filter.

        Done

Hard parts getting at the hose clamps andfound the connector, press in the wire to easy-release.
Didn't take the grommet out fully, just sprayed in there brake fluid and wiped and used cotton buds to clear oily bits. Was in good nick, maybe had been done before ...
        Gonna test drive now ..
