Hi all,

I have a favor to ask! Could someone that owns a 97 850 give me the p/n from the back of their keyless remote? The sticker is missing from mine and I need the p/n.

I called the local Volvo dealer and got a p/n 9148-646, but I fear it is the wrong one. The remote I purchased from ebay (after giving the provided p/n) is the wrong kind (it's the older style with side-by-side buttons, rather than the over/under style of my current remote).

So, either I've been shafted by the ebay seller, or I was given wrong info by the dealer. Either way, I'm in dire straits.

I have a 95 850 wagon and my keyless remote has the side by side buttons. I think they were changed for the top/bottom buttons the year after mine.

I just got one from ebay that isn't working either. I tried a new battery. I think that the dealer gave me the wrong number. I think that it depends on your VIN though. For my 95 850 the PN I got is 3545653 - side by side buttons. Let me know if it doesn't work - maybe I'll buy it from you!

Thanks for the replies. Closer examination of the remote I received does show the 9148646 part number, so clearly the dealer screwed me over (even after asking for my VIN and keeping me on hold for 10 minutes). I can't help but wonder if he did it intentionally. He was very hesitant to give me the part number, only offering the price. I told him I was considering a purchase elsewhere. Probably a bad mistake. Grrrrrr.

I need a remote for a 94 and its the side-by side style. So, if you can't return it, drop me a line. I have to check that the P/N will work.

Hello, when i was trying to find out whether my '94 T5 had keyless entry fitted (it doesn't) i discovered that there are 2 different part numbers and BOTH have the 2 buttons-top + bottom. They are identical in appearance, the ones with the side by side buttons are originals and are no longer produced. I know this because i borrowed both from my local dealer to try, i also discovered that the dealers don't know one from t'other either.

I am in the UK so it might not apply in US or Canada.
