2011 XC70 TPMS help V70-XC70

Have a set of new snows on steel wheels with out TPMS and know that I will get message on dash telling me low tire pressure and want to put on. Called dealer and they say it cannot be turned off. It's software, if it can be turned on, it can be turned off. My wifes 14 XC60 manual says that if you want to lower the range of tire pressure, take to dealer and they can recalibrate. I did not tell them what the manual said and asked if they can do that and they said no. So either they are refusing or really dont know.

Anyone out there know if this can be done? Appreciate the help or direction.

Jim

The Canadian TPMS can be deactivated, not the US version. You are stuck unless you can find some pressure sensor valves to put on your steel wheels.

Finally, a minor plus for owning a Cdn Volvo. Still paying for those high priced parts tho`!

When I bought an 08 'other make', it had a TPMS. The US versions would not tell you which wheel was under pressured, nor by how much. The Canadian system for the same car, told you which wheel and what the actual presure was.

I asked the US rep why the Canadian version was so much better. His reply, the US DOT said to dumb it down???? And why not the spare in the info loop? Too confusing for the average car owner who doesn't even know where the spare is.
