Crankcase venting V70-XC70 2003

Hello all, I have a 2003 V70 2.4 T 119K mi. do most all the work myself timing belt @ 105 K mi Oil/filter etc.. My question is the crankcase venting system , remove intake manifold replace hose's and oil box,, When is this needed?
I have seen 2 so called kits , FCP $80. and another for $274. eeuroparts..
I am proactive , all cooling hoses replaced @105K mi flush steering fluid, brake fluid, trans self flush.. OK sorry crankcase venting, when should it be done?

    Use of synthetic oils greatly reduced the PCV clogging. The hoses still get old and should probably be replaced at the 150K region.

    One way to check for vacuum is to remove the oil filler cap, put a latex glove over the opening and start the warm engine. If the glove starts to inflate, you have a problem. A vacuum gauge is the prefered method for a mechanic, but without a vacuum tree in the new cars, what is a guy supposed to do?

    I waited till the oil box down on the bottom of engine got full. Using M1, I didnt need to do it till nearly 200K. If your hoses clog, fail, etc., or you code, your experience may differ. If you see good breathing when you pull hose at flametrap nipple, dont worry about it now.
