Flashing Service light.Draper tool ineffective S70

Have not driven 1998 Volvo base model for 10 days. Been cold as a well diggers behind here so tried to fire her up and battery dead. Recharged battery after removing terminals and cleaning them along with the posts.
Fired up right away. But the odometer is not working nor the temp display. The real problem is the Service light continues to flash and my Draper reset tool is not able to turn the service light off. Called mechanic. He said he had never seen this happen. Yes he is young but seems to know Volvo's. Please submit your takes. Thank you

ANSWER Flashing Service light.Draper tool ineffective S70

Unplug your battery again, clean the leads again. Remove any oxidation from the red wires and the brass washers. Bolt down the positive terminal nice and tight. Bolt down the ground nice and tight. Start the engine.

The service light is not supposed to flash, but it happens when the instrument cluster gets a bad shock.
