Recently I had the timing belt, idler, tensioner and water pump changed on a newly purchased 1998 V70 with 100K miles. It has the mechanical tensioner instead of hydraulic - the change from hydraulic to mechanical occurred sometime in the 1998 model year.
I wanted to use OEM parts:
Belt = Conti TB331
Tensioner = INA (Volvo 30638277)
Idler = INA (Volvo 8630590) Note this is the new number for 9146376.
Water Pump = Aisin WPV800 (Volvo 30751700)
I found that Tasca Volvo sells a kit with the belt, tensioner and idler for less than anyone else. The 30758261 kit for my 1998 V70 was $110 at Tasca. I separately bought an Aisin WPV800 water pump. My TB and tensioner were previously changed at 70K but that was 10 years ago. All the rotating parts that we replaced (idler, tensioner, water pump) had some play or roughness in the bearings.
Engines through 3188688 use the same 30758261 timing kit as my 1998. Does that include your 2001 engine ?
The water pump, seals etc can be purchased from FCP although Tasca may have a good price on the OE water pump. If you buy an Aisin water pump, the 7 mounting bolts must be purchased separately (Volvo 985151).
The IPD kit listed by Klaus is an excellent choice. I paid $110 + shipping for the Tasca kit and separately bought the Aisin water pump from FCP for $85, but still had to buy the 7 water pump bolts at $1 each. IPD has all those items for $214, about the same price as buying the timing kit, water pump and bolts from Tasca.
Considering the amount of work involved in changing the TB and the consequences of a failure in any rotating part, I would use the OE brands: INA for idler and tensioner, Aisin for the water pump. While the engine coolant is drained, check the condition of radiator and heater hoses. If any hoses need replacement, use OE.
