swap manual transmission from 98 s70 into 2001 v70?

A friend of mine is thinking about doing this--told him I would check here to see if it's possible. Any BTDTs would be appreciated.

    If the 01 has the 4 speed auto, then there should not be a major problem. I am not sure about the 5 speed autos.

    You might want to check with the heavys on Volvospeed and Turbobricks as they do a lot of swaps.

    Tell your friend to replace the RMS while he is at it. He will need an ECU/ECM for a stick shift. I don't think the 98 version computer will work as the 01 has ETM.
