upside down y idiot light

My evil and devil-posessed 95 855 has an upside down y symbol warning light, it isn't in the manual... What is it? Is it the catalytic converter?

    Not so much check engine as you have a problem with your emissions, i.e. O2 sensor, cat, bad fuel, bad air to fuel mix, etc.

    It's a Lambda symbol which on our particular car means CHECK ENGINE.
