1999 v70 heater problem V70-XC70 1999

I just purchased a 1999 v70 glt. when I turn the heater on, it works fine on the left 2 vents, but the right 2 vents blow cool air (ie feels like outside air). The blower strength is fine on right and left. I don't know anything about the repair history on this vehicle, such as when, or if, the heater core has been replaced. Any ideas what is causing this problem?

Is your system ECC (variable speed blower) or MCC (blower speed has numbers). If the latter, probably a loose cable behind the MCC panel.

In either case, the heat should never need to be turned "on" as the temperature dials will compensate and open/close the heat vents.

The ECC unit may blink the yellow lights for the recirc and AC and if that is the case, one of the vent motors is not working correctly.

My system is ECC. Maybe a heat vent is not opening when it is supposed to. I will try to track it down. Thanks for your reply

If you don't get blinking lights at start up (blower speed and vents on 'auto') and you do not have the fresh air vent open (center dash), it might be a bad ECC unit.

No blinking lights. fresh air vent closed. I will investigate the ECC
unit. Thanks
