Hey
My daughter (who lives in Hawaii) is looking for a car.
Her neighbor has a 2004 Volvo Model S40 with less than 80K miles.

I don't know anything about these cars.
Are they OK?
Any Problem areas?
Are they even worth owning?

What's the resale value?

The 2004 is an OK car. No luxury and repairs will cost more than a Honda or Toyota.

Any ten year old car will need some fixes.
We got our '01 for my daughter in '09.
It has been a good car, but we know the previous owner took care of it.
Has 179,000 miles on it now.
