steering creaks S70 1998

Okay, I found the source of the noise in my left front corner (see earlier post for more info on that). It seems to be coming from the rubber disk that sits just below the nut holding the strut in. As far as I can tell that rubber disk is hanging up when I turn the wheel and then jumping forward once it loses its grip causing the noise I've been hearing. My question is, the thing looks to be in fairly good shape despite its age. Can I just drip some light oil on the bottom of it to get it slidding easy again or should I just replace it. If the latter, does anyone know the part number by chance? Thanks

Re: steering creaks S70 1998

Hi !

I am just coming back from the dealer's. No more noise. They first tried

to put grease everywhere at the top and the bottom of the strut, but it did not work. It was due to the stab link that is at the bottom of the

strut. They replaced it and that was it ! I did not pay a penny for this

repair.

I have the same problem and it is coming from the left side. I am going to the dealer's next Tuesday and, as far as I know, this repair should be covered by the warranty. From what I heard from other people who had the same problem, a bushing has to be replaced.
