Vacuum Lines and Connectors 850 96

Recently there has been some discussion of vacuum leaks. I would like to replace some on the lines and connectors. Does anyone know of a good source for vacuum lines and rubber connectors? Do you recommend stock replacement or perhaps there are upgrades available that are less likely to degrade over time.

Thanks,

Steve

I would go stock unless you have a reason not to. Any auto store should be able to sell you vacuum line and elbows. I would not replace anything though unless you have a leak. As for other options, there are several forms of rubber lines that can be used in place of the vinyl ones that are standard. Silicone being the most common. The problem with silicone is that it is not cut resistant it all. It is also more bulking. My biggest problem with silicone lines is securing them. You cannot use standard pipe clamps on silicone. So that leaves glue and zipties as the best option. I guess bottom line is I would not mess with anything until there is actually a problem. The whole, "if its not broke don't fix it" concept. I do however ziptie in the stock elbows for added security. High boost can pop them off. Just IMHO.

That is the reason for my original post. I understand what Charles is saying about staying stock and not fixing unless its broken, but if a line or connector looks aged and I need to replace it, I was hoping not to have to go to the dealer and pay "through the hose". Quess I'll just have to "suck" it up and pay.
