2000 volvo v70 awd xc wagon - shifter issue V70-XC70 2000

key is stuck in the ignition.
Already checked to see if it was the auto switch, but I can shift all the way down and back up, no problem.
Noticed that the shifter knob button will not release all the way back out.
So I was looking at replacing the shifter knob or just the button itself.
Looking for instruction on how to remove shifter. Does anyone have some instructions.

    I see no-one replied…maybe the forum is kaput? I had the same trouble. Turned out to be the shifter knob.

    Dumb sticky button! Before you remove the shifter, spray it with some silicone lube and see if that helps. It should move enough to get the key out.

    The shifter itself 'pops' straight up. Volvospeed has some write ups on that, like keeping the sunroof open so you don't bang your head!! And pushing down the boot before starting.
