Battery Replacement 2009 xc70 V70-XC70 2009

I recently purchased a 2009 3.2 AWD XC70 and it's time to replace the Battery. Are there any tricks or concerns in doing the replacement? Will I loose all my personal settings (reset to factory defaults)? I've owned several Volvos in the past but they were all 92' or older; way fewer electronics!

Thanks,
Michael

When I replaced the battery on our '04 V70 I used a trickle charger to supply 12 volts to the system while batteries were being swapped. It worked great.

I've thought about doing that before. You just have to be careful to not let the + cable hit ground.

Did you connect the trickle charger to the terminal up in the the engine bay?

You must wait 5-10 minutes after turning the engine off before disconnecting your old battery. Read your owner's manual, page 234, first.

    Battery Replacement 2009 xc70 V70-XC70 2009

I replaced my 03 V70 battery about a year ago and my wife's 05 S80 battery about two months ago. I can't remember if I had to to reset the radio stations or not. We recently moved to a new city so we had to reset them anyway. In any case, that was the worst side effect I can think of when replacing the battery.

But a bigger issue I can see is why are you having to replace the battery at 4 years old? Volvo batteries typically last longer than that. As noted above, my personal experience has been 8-10 years on the original battery. You may want to check out the charging system.
