Actually, there is a way to do it! turn the key to II position. Then, hold down the trip reset button until the service light flashes on and off. Turn the key off. Turn the car on and you should have no light!

This worked on my '99.

You cannot do it unless you buy a very expensive tool. Most of us have pulled the bulb for the service light when replacing bulbs in the instrument panel.

Suggestion: a small piece of black electrical tape works wonders.

I thought you could hold down the odometer trip reset button when you turn the ignition to position 2. Or is that just the 1999s?

Not for 1996-1998.
