Peeling rubber, not paint. 850

I have recently read some posts regarding re-painting the roof racks, but what if the thin strips of rubber are the problem and not the painted roof racks themselves? The paint on the roof racks is fine, but the rubber strips are deteriorating.

I have noticed that on the driver side, just above the passenger door, the rubber strip between the roof rack and the roof itself is lifting off. Is it possible to replace the rubber strips alone? And if so how much?

The rubber strips are the most common problem. They cost about 130 each with the end peices and take about 10 minutes to install. They are actually metal underneth though, so it is possiable to paint them.

By "they are actually metal underneth though" do you mean the rubber strips themselves?

It's not the actual roof rack, but the thin about 3/16" in width or about 4-5mm, rubber between the metal roof rack and the roof.

The paint on the roof racks is still in great condition. But these thin little rubber strips are not conforming to their intended shape anymore, and some have begun to stray from the thin opening they were designed to cover.

Is it possible to replace ONLY these thin rubber strips, and not the roof racks themselves, or is that what you meant by 130 for just the rubber strips and the end pieces? The reason I ask again, is my confusion of these thin rubber strips being metal underneath. My rubber strips are only rubber and have no metal attached underneath them. Do you mean the sheet metal that forms the channel as the metal attached underneath?

Your talking about the roof strips that run down the front of the A-pillar except out side the car right. I guess you would call them rain gutters. If so, they are metal underneth. They are metal with a vinal coating.
