HELP - Overheating 850 94

My 94 850 started over heating on th expressway tonight.

It seemed that the small plastic overflow tank (above the passenger side front wheel) was spewing steam abd water/coolant all over the place. There are no obvious cracks, or breaks anywhere, car still drove great, just a lot of smoke/steam from under the hood. It has been towed to a repair shop, but I want to know what I am in for.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

    What about the water pump?

Thanks to all that responded - it turned out to be the radiator itself.

The newer Blue/green cap is a good move, the thermostat could of stuck shut, so that could be a part needed, and a look at the relay that works the fan speeds might show that its not turning on the fan when it should.

The gray colored coolant overflow caps are known to fail. I believe

newer ones are blue. Also, a few people have reported thermostat

failures seem to start at around 70K miles.

It is more than likely the thermostat. Not a big deal unless you boiled it dry.
