The scenario is this. I drove out to pick someone up, stopped the engine and let it sit for about 3 minutes. THen when I tried to start it, it acted like it wasn't getting gas or something. Maybe not enough power to starter?

Then after I got it started, the SRS idiot light came on and stayed on the rest of the way home (just about 8 miles or so).

I turned off the car when I got home, and then turned it back on but it didn't do anything to the SRS light.

I'll take it to a auto store in the morning and have them read the code. Hoping it's something stupid and simple.

I understand that the starting issue AND the SRS issue might be totally unrelated.

Any ideas?

    Checked the code. Code came up 127.

    Did a quick little google search, and it said something about a fault or light? I'll check again (and check here).

    I was able to reset the code too.

      I love it!! The SRS light comes on to tell you the SRS light doesn't work!!!

      1-2-7 = SRS lamp, short circuit or open circuit to ground.

    An autoparts store cannot get codes from a 1993 850. You can, by checcking the diagnostic boxes under the hood. B-5 is for the SRS.

    The 'hard start' could be a battery problem or worn brushes on the alternator, which CAN be diagnosed by the autoparts store fairly easily.

      Almost at the same time you posted that, I had found out (via my brother) that I couldn't get the codes from my car via the auto store.

      So when I get back from work, I'll check it out.

    SRS lights can be triggered by low voltage-- perhaps your hard start caused a low voltage state and tripped the light.

      Hm....low voltage? My brother, upon hearing about the starting issue, suggested that maybe my starter is drawing too much.

      Is there a simple test for that? (I'm asking what could possibly be a simple question because I haven't searched just yet).

        Have the battery load tested when they read your SRS codes.
