Reliability of 2003 to 2007 XC70s V70-XC70

Hello all,

I am in the market for an XC70, probably in the 100k mile range. I've heard that the ones prior to 2003 can be a headache, but is there a model year 2003 and on that would be the best option? Should I just shoot for newest I can afford? Have owned a 1998 S70 and a 1998 V70 in the past and I do my own maint. and any repairs that aren't super technical.

Thanks for any advice!

Jay

Yes, they do work. Just make sure all of the electrical bits are functional. More computers in these cars, and they all talk to each other - most of the time. Twice as many fuses as the 1998.

Dealers probably do not maintain the Haldex AWD box. It has oil and a filter that needs changing. Audi, BMW, and Mercedes all change the fluid and filter 40-50K, I suspect that might be overkill, but at 90-100K would be a must at my house.

You know the rule: 2 remotes, an owner's manual, and some sort of repair hist is really needed (at least the garage or dealer name).
