Radiator Drain Plug V70-XC70 1999

Good morning all, does anyone know what size plug I can install as a drain plug in my radiator? I ordered a new Volvo drain plug and it leaks.

Is the plug defective? Was the old one put on so tight that the casing cracked? Is your current radiator not Nissens or OEM?

The business end of the OEM plug has a small O ring to seal the opening. If a new plug will not keep the antifreeze in the radiator, there is no other 'plug' that will seal the small opening.

The old petcock had split in the o-ring so I purchased a new Volvo petcock. The radiator is OEM.

Tell Volvo your new one doesn't work. The part is good for one full year.

If you leave the cap on the reservior, you should be able to replace the plug without too much spillage. Or just drain it and using an old tee shirt as a filter, pour the fluid back in the reservior.
